How to set up Ring doorbell quick replies

Halloween quick replies

Ring’s “Quick Reply Message” feature allows you to send an automated response to guests if you’re unable to answer the door (including standard replies such as “We can’t answer the door right now…” or “Please leave the package outside…”). But, Ring has also added four more options specifically for Halloween:

  • “I’ll be right there to eat… I mean greet you!”
  • “Tell us what brings you here… or we’ll put a spell on you!”
  • “Oh dear, it’s not a full moon tonight is it? I’m afraid I’m in a bit of a… a bit of a hairy situation here. Please leave a message!”
  • “You’ve just awoken the spirits that haunt this house! Hurry and leave a message… before it’s too late.”

To set up quick replies for your doorbell, you’ll need to open the latest version of the Ring app on your mobile device and then follow these steps:

  1. Tap the three lines on the left.
  2. Select Devices.
  3. Pick the doorbell that you want to set up.
  4. Tap the Smart Responses tile below the doorbell (and enable the feature if you haven’t already).
  5. Check that the Quick Replies slider is on (to the right).
  6. Tap Quick Reply Message and choose the message you desire.
  7. Hit Save.
  8. Set your Response Time (from Right away to 20 seconds) and tap the back arrow in the top left.
  9. If you want to switch off the reply after Halloween, follow steps 1-4 and then tap the Quick Replies slider so that it is off.
